In the last installment, we introduced heart rate "zone training" for aerobic cardiovascular exercise. Both of our experts, Dr. Pearce and Joey Morman, edorsed the practice popularized by "endurance athlete" and author, Sally Edwards. We noted that Dr. Pearce now uses a more advanced version of zones that is, for the most part, unavailable to amateurs.

Although zone training was around before Sally, there is no doubt that her series of books and her clinics have been the prime movers of zone training from the backwash to the mainstream.

We need to thank Sally, especially, for her assistance in this installment.

Last time, we also introduced a method to determine your maximum heart rate (Max HR) safely and accurately. If you haven't done so, you should perform those exercises now and fill out the heart rate chart provided. From this point, this installment will be based on percentages of your Max HR.
